SAPS principal

Michelle Parr Mullins is the principal of St. Amant Primary School. Born and raised in Ascension Parish, Mullins is a product of Ascension Public Schools. She received both her bachelor’s and master’s degree from Louisiana State University. She recently married Jared Mullins. Together they have three children: Marley, Reed and Maddie.

Her teaching career began at Dutchtown Primary, where she worked for 10 years teaching third and fourth graders. She later moved to Spanish Lake Primary and taught fourth grade for two years. Mullins served two years as a teacher coach at St. Amant Primary then taught and served as a mentor teacher at Gonzales Primary for one year. She has spent the last four years at Central Primary as a Master Teacher and then Assistant Principal.

Mullins looks forward to new opportunities as principal of St. Amant Primary. Her 20+ years of experience have helped her develop many relationships in the Ascension community and have prepared her to take on the role of principal.

SAPS Assitant Principal

Stacey Hughes is the  Assistant Principal of St. Amant Primary. A lifelong Ascension Parish resident and proud product of Ascension Public Schools, Hughes has stayed local and spent 25+ years as an educator in the school system. As a classroom teacher she taught English at Galvez Middle, Central Elementary, and Dutchtown Middle.

Along with being a classroom teacher, Hughes was as a teacher coach at Gonzales Middle and a TAP master teacher at Gonzales Middle, Lowery Middle and Lakeside Primary. She recently served as an administrative intern at Oak Grove Primary.

Hughes earned a bachelor’s degree in English education from Southeastern Louisiana University and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Northwestern State University. She is also a National Board Certified Teacher.
